Nazeemah
Namaste ' Hello ' Cape Town. I was too tired to write anything last night, so here goes. We finally got to Lukla. The flight on a small plane with a runway of about 500m and flying extremely close to the mountains was surprisingly a smooth flight landing included. Pilots nothing short of the best skill. Day 1, as I landed, my brother who was on the 1st flight, was waiting for me as I'm walking down the steps of the plane, so sweet. He was extremely concern as it was getting late [after 11am] plus the weather was becoming a factor.
Altitude hit you as I was walking towards the meeting area, where the Nepalese made delicious veg chow-main. We started our trek immediately after lunch. Wow Lukla village was beautiful, lots of shops even though the majority sell the exact same product it appears that they all make endmeet. I saw the poorest people, the most primitive life, but I also observed that not only are they extremely friendly but helpful. Gosh the prettiest people I've ever seen.
As i'm treking and admire the beauty this trail has to offer, a river, that look Iike a lagoon and sounds like the ocean, wow wow wow......, so many things to mention. Like the tug I felt on my jacket , it was a little girl asking me for a sweet. As I was reaching in my pocket, I just saw small little kids holding out their hands. Naturally I fed them, but I guess I was just taking too long for one little boy who grabbed the packet out of my and and it was his turn to dish it out to his buddies.

Tariqf azhar aniqah. Hope you all good. We are on day six. Sleeping at dingboche. Hiking in snow and sleeping at zero temp. Communication is very poor and I am unable to make contact. Lots of love and salaams mama. Send love to papa. See you soon.
Nazeemah' notes
Its day 6 today, so many things happened..... beautiful villages, poor people, but the most friendly people I've ever met in my life. The is not an easy trip, altitude at 4800m was a challenge for me. Walking slowly. We sleeping with mountains surrounding us packed with snow, so beautiful, but below freezing point.

Trek Day1 Lukla -Phakding
Took charter flight from Khatmandu to Lukla - split group into two. First group took off at 8.30 am. What a flight, we were blessed with good conditions which shows how unpredictable the weather can be! But what an experience with the plane - nothing more than a minibus taxi with wings. But wot a view, the mountains were so close we could touch them. Luklahas the worst loo in the world!
We had some anxiety when our companions failed to join us on schedule.worried bcos the weather was changing, worried cos none of us had the sense to take a local contact no of group two :-[
eventually we were reunited and just in time cos they were the last flight of the day!
We had a carb-heavy lunch and started our trek - EVENTUALLY.
The trail was beautiful :-) We walked on mostly flat trails although quite high up;occasionally passed by Sherpas carring everything from doors to corrugated sheeting. What humble hard-working people the Sherpas are. The children are so beautiful I want to bring them all home with me.
We got to our teahouse late afternoon; the weather went from sunny and cold in the morning to sunny and warm in the afternoon. By late afternoon it was quite cold.
We are having dinner now, being served by our guides and porters. We are tired but happy. Sleep-deprived more than tired and super-blessed to be here.
My personal highlights include the spectacular views, my companions; Mr Jaffer's inability to pass a prayer drum and how hot he looks in his shades:-)
