Took charter flight from Khatmandu to Lukla - split group into two. First group took off at 8.30 am. What a flight, we were blessed with good conditions which shows how unpredictable the weather can be! But what an experience with the plane - nothing more than a minibus taxi with wings. But wot a view, the mountains were so close we could touch them. Luklahas the worst loo in the world!
We had some anxiety when our companions failed to join us on schedule.worried bcos the weather was changing, worried cos none of us had the sense to take a local contact no of group two :-[
eventually we were reunited and just in time cos they were the last flight of the day!
We had a carb-heavy lunch and started our trek - EVENTUALLY.
The trail was beautiful :-) We walked on mostly flat trails although quite high up;occasionally passed by Sherpas carring everything from doors to corrugated sheeting. What humble hard-working people the Sherpas are. The children are so beautiful I want to bring them all home with me.
We got to our teahouse late afternoon; the weather went from sunny and cold in the morning to sunny and warm in the afternoon. By late afternoon it was quite cold.
We are having dinner now, being served by our guides and porters. We are tired but happy. Sleep-deprived more than tired and super-blessed to be here.
My personal highlights include the spectacular views, my companions; Mr Jaffer's inability to pass a prayer drum and how hot he looks in his shades:-)
